How to Apply for Savings Account Online?

You can apply for Savings Account online through the website. Just follow these steps:

  • Visit the Savings Account page and click ‘Apply Now’

  • Enter your Full Name (as per PAN), PAN, Pincode and mobile number

  • Verify using the OTP sent to your mobile number

  • Accept the authorisation and Terms & Conditions, then submit

After submission, an ICICI Bank representative will contact you to assist with account opening and verification.

What is the ICICI Bank Savings Account minimum balance for new accounts opened after 01 August 2025?

Monthly Average Balance required in the new Savings Account is as follows:

  • Metro and Urban locations - ₹15,000

  • Semi-urban locations - ₹7,500

  • Rural locations- ₹2,500

Following customers are exempted from the requirement of monthly average balance:

  • Customers fulfilling programme eligibility criteria

  • Pensioners receiving pension in their ICICI Bank Savings Accounts

  • Students of Select Institutes

What are the programmes and their eligibility criteria in new Savings Account?

Customers can enrol for any of the three programmes mentioned below:

  • Private Banking

  • Wealth Management

  • Select Banking

Customer can fulfil any of the below criteria to qualify for the programme: 

Private Banking (Any one)

  • Relationship value of ₹5 crore
    (Deposits + Account Balance + MF Value + Demat Holdings)

  • Deposits + Account balance = ₹50 lakh

Wealth Management (Any one)

  • Relationship value of ₹50 lakh
     (Deposits + Account balance + MF Investments + Demat holdings)

  • Deposits + Account balance = ₹10 lakh

Select Banking (Any one)

  • Relationship value of ₹25 lakh
     (Deposits + Account balance + MF Investments + Demat holdings)

  • Deposits + Account balance = ₹2 lakh

What is Savings Account portability?

You can now transfer your Savings Account from any ICICI Bank branch to another through Net Banking, the ICICI Bank's iMobile app, Customer Care or by visiting any branch and submitting a request.

Is the newly launched Savings Account applicable to existing customers?

It is applicable for new Savings accounts opened on or after 01 August 2025 This new savings account is not applicable for the following customer segments:

  • Salary Accounts
  • Existing Savings Accounts opened before 01 August 2025
  • Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Account
  • Special Categories: Accounts for visually impaired, incapacitated, etc
  • BSBDA or Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Accounts
  • Special Categories: Accounts for visually impaired, incapacitated, etc 

What happens if MAB in Savings Account is not maintained?

Non-maintenance charges will be applicable, which is 6% of the shortfall amount or ₹500 whichever is lower.

This charge will be waived if customer enrols and fulfils the respective programme eligibility criteria.

What is the minimum balance requirement for student account?

There is no minimum balance requirement for Student Savings Account.

How can I convert my normal Savings Account (Resident Account) to an NRI Account?

You can convert your Savings Account (i.e. Resident Account) into an NRO (Non-Resident Ordinary) Account using any of the 2 modes given below:

  • 1. DIY (Do It Yourself) Mode:
    • Log into your Net Banking account and follow this path
    • Login > Customer Service > Service Request > Click on ‘Convert your SB account to NRO Account’
  • 2. Assisted Mode:
    • While filling in the relationship details, please mention the Resident Account number(s) to be converted to NRO Account(s). The Account number(s) will remain same for your convenience.

In case you simultaneously hold a Non-Resident Account and a Resident Account and your status is Non-Resident Indian, you will have to convert your Resident Account to an NRO Account as per the applicable FEMA guidelines. Please fill in a Resident-to-NRO conversion request form (PDF, 132 KB).

Note: 

After the conversion of your Resident Savings Account to an NRO Savings Account, your Account Number will remain the same and funds from the Resident Savings Account will be automatically transferred to the NRO Savings Account. In case your address is India has not changed, you will not be required to submit a proof of address. However, if it has changed, then you will be required to submit the proof of address of the changed address. The proof of address of the Current Address (i.e. overseas address) has to be mandatorily submitted.
