Who Can Invest?

Indian resident citizens and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) are eligible to invest. Accounts can be held singly or jointly. Non Resident Indians (NRI) and citizens other than Indian are not allowed to invest in this scheme.

Interest and Returns

The interest rate is reset every six months and is currently 8.05% per annum (as of January–June 2024), payable half-yearly on a risk-free investment.

Minimum investment starts at ₹1,000 with no upper limit. The bond has a lock-in period of 7 years. Premature withdrawal is allowed for senior citizens.

The current interest rate is 8.05% per annum (as of 30 June, 2026), payable every six months. The rate is revised every six months. 

Who is eligible to invest in FRSBs?

Indian residents and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) can invest in FRSBs. Accounts may be held individually or jointly.

Is there any limit on investment amount?

There is no upper limit. The minimum investment is ₹1,000, and further investments must be in multiples of ₹1,000.

Can I withdraw my investment before 7 years?

Premature withdrawal is permitted only for investors aged 60 and above, with varying minimum holding periods based on age bracket (4–6 years).
