Auto Recharge For Standing Instructions Through Internet Banking:

For the first-of-its-kind, you can now set Standing Instruction (SI) from Retail Internet Banking(RIB) and simply forget the hassles of recharging your ICICI Bank FASTag every time. With this facility, your FASTag account gets automatically recharged when the amount goes below the threshold limit*.

With this facility, your ICICI Bank FASTag Account gets automatically recharged, when the amount goes below the threshold limit. You don’t have to recharge your FASTag Account, every time you take out your vehicle on the highways or are out of funds.

To set Auto Recharge through iMobile app, follow the below simple steps:

  • Log in to iMobile app
  • Select 'Bill Payment & FASTag' > 'ICICI Bank FASTag'
  • Switch on 'Auto Recharge' for your linked vehicle
  • To set the 'Auto Recharge' for a vehicle enter:
    • Vehicle Number
    • 'If, my FASTag balance drops below': Minimum amount of 100
    • Then Recharge my FASTag with': Maximum amount of 10,000
    • 'Savings Account Number'
    • Confirm

Auto Recharge through UPI Mandate:

Imagine a situation where you have entered the FASTag lane at the Toll plaza, however you are unable to zip through, due to insufficient funds in your wallet. Aside from the commotion, you will have to pay double the applicable toll fees!

To avoid all these hassles, we bring you one more option to recharge your FASTag automatically, as per your defined frequency - through UPI Mandate.

Salient features of an auto recharge facility through UPI Mandate:

  • Frequency enabled as per convenience
  • One time quick and easy process to set-up
  • Enabled/Disabled at any time, as per requirement
  • Can set up this facility in both CUG/wallet and Tag.

Simple steps to enable the facility:

Step 1  Login to ICICI Bank FASTag Customer portal

Step 2 Select ‘Payments’ → ‘Standing Instructions for UPI’ from top menu

Step 3 Enter details to set 'Standing Instructions through UPI'

  • Select 'Payment Frequency' from the drop-down
  • Enter 'Virtual Payment Address (VPA)' *
  • Enter 'Top-up Amount' (Minimum amount: INR 100)
  • Select 'Start Date' and click on 'Submit' button

Step 4 Go to UPI Mandate section in your app (with which VPA ID is linked) to accept the authorization request on the same day

Step 5 Pre-debit notification will be sent from the respective app (where the UPI Mandate has been set)

Step 6 Accept the notification and enter the PIN# (if required)

Step 7 UPI Mandate will be triggered within 24 Hours of accepting the pre-debit notification and amount will be deducted from your Bank account

Let’s consider this scenario:
You set the Standing Instructions through UPI by logging into the customer portal on March 15, 2023 with ‘Payment Frequency’ as Daily. You will receive the Authorization request in your mobile app on March 15, 2023 and Pre-debit notification on March 16, 2023, which needs to be accepted and PIN entered. This is a one-time process. Within 24 hours of accepting the pre-debit notification, UPI Mandate will be triggered and the amount will get deducted from the Bank account. Starting from March 16, 2023, amount will get deducted on a daily basis to automatically recharge your FASTag

Video KYC

Know Your Customer (KYC) is a mandatory process used to verify your identity. You can now complete this verification for FASTag via video calls by connecting with our Bank Officer. During the process, your KYC documents will be verified, and signatures recorded through the video call with a bank officer, thus doing away with the need of physically visiting a bank branch.

The status of your KYC impacts your recharge limit for FASTag. If you are a min-KYC customer, the value of the FASTag limit in any month should not exceed INR 10,000. Also, the total amount loaded in the wallet during a financial year should not exceed ₹1 lakh. If you have completed your KYC, the maximum amount in the wallet at any point of time can be ₹1 lakh.

Pre-requisites for video KYC:

To initiate video KYC please ensure the following:

Keep the below things handy -

  • Aadhaar Number
  • Mobile number should be updated in UIDAI records
  • Original PAN Card
  • Blank Paper
  • Blue/Black pen

Other things to be taken care of –

  • Be in a well lit, silent space
  • A plain wall behind you
  • Uninterrupted data connectivity
  • You should be physically present in India

Enable location: To proceed, your location should be ‘India’

Verify details:

  • FASTag customer ID or FASTag registered mobile number
  • Vehicle Registration Number (VRN)
  • Select checkbox for Terms and Conditions and click ‘Next’.Take note of your vKYC Tracking ID

Enter profile details and click ‘Next’

For verification enter:

  • Pan Card number
  • Aadhaar Card number

Verify OTP on your Aadhar Registered mobile number

Select the consents provided

If communication address is the same as permanent address, select ‘Yes’. Else, select ‘No’ and enter the details

Select ‘Terms and Conditions’ and ‘Proceed for Video KYC’ to get connected to our Phone Banking Officer

Details will be verified at our end, after which your KYC status will be confirmed within T+2 working days

FASTag FAQs

What to do if I have raised request for closure of my FASTag, but my FASTag is still showing as active in NPCI and IHMCL records.

If your closure request is approved, your FASTag will be first put in 03 exception code (low balance status) in NPCI and IHMCL records. After 15 days of approval of request, you will receive refund of balance in your wallet and your FASTag will then be added to 06 exception code (closed status) in NPCI and IHMCL records.

I have raised request for closure for my FASTag, but it is not approved and my tag is still active. How can I get my tag closed.


Your closure request will be verified by the Bank basis the documents submitted. The TAT for verification is 3 business days. After the request is approved, your tag will be added to 03 exception code (low balance status) to block tag from doing transactions. After 15 days of approval of request, you will receive refund of balance in your wallet and your FASTag will then be added to 06 exception code (closed status) in NPCI and IHMCL records. If any transactions are sent by toll plaza on blocked tag, you can raise a dispute on the transactions for getting refund from the toll plaza. Once toll plaza accepts the dispute, you will receive the refund.

I have raised request for closure of my FASTag, but it is rejected. How can I check the reason for rejection.

You can login to FASTag web portal - https://fastaglogin.icicibank.com/CUSTLOGIN/Default.aspx and check the activity history of the vehicle for which closure request was raised. The activity history will display the reason for rejection. You can raise request for closure again with valid documents. In case of urgent permanent blocking of tag (if you have sold the vehicle), you can click on “View tag account summary” and then click on “Manage Tags” under “Vehicles” Tab, click on “Manage” and mark the tag as Lost/Stolen to add the tag to 06 exception code (closed/permanent block).

What to do if my FASTag sticker is disabled and I am not able to activate.

If your FASTag is hotlisted due to negative balance, you can recharge with sufficient balance and activate. If your FASTag sticker is hotlisted because of incorrect vehicle number or not updating registration certificate, or any other reason, please upload your registration certificate and reach out to customer care number - 1800 2100 104. If your FASTag is showing as “Closed” in NPCI and IHMCL records, it cannot be activated again. You can take a new FASTag under your existing FASTag wallet if the status of your FASTag in ICICI FASTag portal - https://fastaglogin.icicibank.com/CUSTLOGIN/Default.aspx is “Returndamage” or “LOST” or “STOLEN”. However, if your FASTag status is “HEXTAGCLOSED” or “CLOSED” or “PENDING CLOSED” or “REFUND REQUESTED” or “SUSPENDED” or “WRITE OFF”, you need to create new FASTag account for new FASTag. Existing account can be closed by following the process for FASTag wallet closure.

I have not used my FASTag for a period of 1 year and my FASTag is disabled. How can I activate my FASTag.

If your FASTag is showing as “Closed” in NPCI and IHMCl records, it cannot be activated again. You can check your FASTag wallet status in ICICI Bank FASTag web portal - https://fastaglogin.icicibank.com/CUSTLOGIN/Default.aspx If your FASTag status is “HEXTAGCLOSED” or “CLOSED” or “PENDING CLOSED” or “REFUND REQUESTED” or “SUSPENDED” or “WRITE OFF”, you need to create new FASTag account for new FASTag. Existing account can be closed by following the process for FASTag wallet closure.
