ICICI Bank has entered academia to vocationalize education in graduate colleges and to scale the employability of graduates.
ICICI Bank has designed the curriculum of and drawn up courseware for a Certificate course in ‘Foundations of Banking'. The curriculum covers the basics of banking, retail credit, customer service and business etiquette amongst others. This offering is a blend of instructor-led training (ILT), assignments and selfpaced e-learning, game based learning and skill enhancement or simulator lab sessions. The ILT aspect is supported by ICICI Bank through its Faculty Development Programme (FDP).
The FDP provides inputs on course content, familiarity to varied teaching methodologies, exposure to a live banking environment through visits to branches and processing centres and a window for interaction with business leaders. The workshops also afford opportunities for the faculty to draw lesson plans to teach back.
To make the e-learning modules accessible to students, ICICI Bank has facilitated an on-line Campus Learning Management System (Campus LMS), which hosts the banking e-learning modules. This Internet link will be the students’ window into the world of banking and financial services.
Campus LMS offers interactive and engaging e-learning modules on ‘Foundations of Banking’ spanning over 40 e-learning days absolutely free to students. Modules covering banking basics, insurance, quality, processes, compliance and related behavior or skill are focus areas. The courses contain an in-built online assessment session, on clearing which a student gets awarded a learning confirmation certificate.
'Online Foundations of Banking' in which the courseware by design would encourage self-learning by students through e-Learning independent of the faculty. The online course can be offered to students through colleges where there are constraints in allocating faculty or infrastructure for facilitating the course.
ICICI Bank has set up e-Learning Centres in various colleges covering different states and in select colleges, a lab simulator too. Skill enhancement is a very important element of this initiative. The lab-simulator learning offers exposure to the practical feel of transactions in the banking and financial services industry. Simulation-based learning allows students to practice the application of knowledge, processing of transactions and soft skills.
