Do I need a current account to use UPI QR or Sound Box?

Yes, you need an ICICI Bank current account to use UPI QR or Sound Box. This ensures that your collections are settled directly, securely, and on time into your business account.

How can I get a UPI QR code for my shop?

You can get a UPI QR code in two ways:

  • Do-It-Yourself Mode: Generate it instantly through the InstaBIZ app and start collecting payments right away.
  • Assisted Mode: Contact your Relationship Manager or visit the nearest ICICI Bank branch to get your QR code set up.

What is a Sound Box?

A Sound Box is a portable speaker device that provides instant voice confirmation each time a customer makes a successful UPI payment. It improves transparency, builds customer trust, and saves time by reducing the need to check messages or apps.

How can I get a Sound Box for my shop?

You can request a Sound Box by contacting your Relationship Manager, visiting the nearest ICICI Bank branch. Once your request is processed, the Sound Box will be delivered and activated for your shop.

What are the benefits of using a Sound Box over a regular QR?

A Sound Box provides:

  • Instant payment confirmation through voice and visual alerts on the device.
  • Reduced error and disputes, since you don’t have to manually check messages.
  • Better customer trust, as both merchant and customer hear confirmation.

How do I monitor the UPI collections from my different stores/ counters?

You can monitor collections by creating sub-merchants or setting up a merchant hierarchy within your ICICI Bank merchant account. Each store or counter gets a unique QR, and a separate login to track its collections, while you can also view a consolidated report as the parent merchant, on the UPI Dashboard. All collections are still settled directly into your main current account, ensuring easy reconciliation and centralized fund management.

Is there any cost involved in using UPI QR or Sound Box?

  • UPI QR: Generally provided free of cost to the merchants, with zero transaction charges on UPI-to-UPI collection, and a nominal MDR on UPI collection through Rupay Credit Card or Credit line on UPI.
  • Sound Box/ NFC-enabled Dynamic QR Sound Box: Available on a rental or subscription plan, with different variants to suit your business needs.

What is the difference between Static QR and Dynamic QR?

  • Static QR: A fixed code displayed at your shop. Customers enter the amount manually while making payments. Best suited for small shops and fixed counters.
  • Dynamic QR: A unique QR is generated for each transaction with the amount already filled in. This minimizes errors and is ideal for websites, billing counters, or delivery businesses.

How does the NFC “Tap & Pay” feature work?

Customers with NFC-enabled smartphones or cards can tap the device to complete payment in seconds. The Sound Box then gives an instant voice confirmation, ensuring a smooth and secure payment experience.
